The war against fly tippers continues, this is waste material delivered outside of the hours of daylight and can be the product of an individual but on examination is most often supplied free of charge by travelling business people and small contractors. A cost to the local authority and a source of great displeasure to the public and those who are civic minded enough to report the instance. Further reporting would be welcome especially if identification can be ascertained.
However there is still a large additional problem of casual litter which is being tackled by volunteers. They’re known as the Methley Wombles – adult supervised youngsters now litterpicking in collaboration with the brownies and cubs.
